A private space for us to converse and connect
Today I’m announcing a new addition to my Substack publication: The STUART SCADRON-WATTLES subscriber chat.
Sound cue: A tiny toy horn toots two broken notes.
This is a conversation space exclusively for subscribers—kind of like a group chat or live hangout, but limited to subscribers. Unlike the comments section, It’s a place where I can post questions and updates that come my way, and you can jump into the discussion.
When I first started publishing on Substack, the jury— the one inside my head— was still out on the nature of what we were facing here in the US. I’m way past the point where they delivered the verdict. This is why I rarely comment on the sights we glimpse as the hand basket we’re all in rattles downwards, madly dropping principles of liberal democracy as it careens wildly to You Know Where.
That’s also why you won’t find much reference in my musings to the current “news.” My main concern is how we separately and corporately handle the necessary chaotic ferment of these times. I had expected that those principles were all held together with the sticky tape of wealth and privilege, but the extent of it truly beggars description. I must admit that the consequent realization is refreshing in the amount of humility required.
All to say that our chat will be about how we handle the Broken Parts, and prepare for the inevitable Rearranging to come.
So, the subject is: How are you and your companions doing that? Can you point me and the rest of us to other Substack writers and readers who share our concerns?

How to get started
Get the Substack app by clicking this link or the button below. New chat threads won’t be sent sent via email, so turn on push notifications so you don’t miss conversation as it happens. You can also access chat on the web.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! Jump into my thread to say hi, and if you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.
